Google’s Artistic Flare in Friendship

My Alma Mater’s moto is “Having light we pass it on to others.”

Google’s homage to artist Jackson Pollock.

Now, I found that to mean having the light of wisdom or an idea or something we want to share of ourselves, we most often want to pass it on to others: knowledge as a virus.

To commemorate a holidays, historical moment, celebrity’s birthday, etc. Google’s periodically changes its homepage logo in acknowledgment of the event. You can see their official logos collection here.

When such a day is upon us in the world, Google takes time to recognize the occasion by artistically rendering its brand logo and linking it to a customized search on the occasion. Boldly yet tacitly sharing the occasion for those daring enough to click the rendered logo.

I find Google’s artistic gesture more like a social media change of “status.” Its their “social” way to let its audience know what it finds interesting and relevant. And thus, linking to it, sharing a little of itself (read: personality) too.

Kudos.
