San Francisco Mayor Gavin took to the global internet airwaves and made it perfectly clear: he is officially running for California State Governor.

In choosing Twitter as his medium of choice, Newsom joins the ranks of @Oprah, Ashton Kutcher and @The_Real_Shaq as one of the “most popular” online twitterers.

“Disruption?” It was evident  that Newsom’s tweet had major network media all a-twitter.

“Retweeting” Newsome’s announcement, The New York Times political blog called Twitter an “untrodden political tool.”

One would think that this “denial” is even more myopic to the detriment of their business survival.

Twitter already proved how it can break stories and command larger audiences faster than major network media. Read India’s Mumbai terror attacks and James Karl Buck Egyptian arrest stories.

See his how Newsom lines up against the twitterati at http://twitterholic.com/gavinnewsom/.

Hmmm, “disruption”?
