Great graph of Twitter user participation depicting a 5% “producer” population that creating 75% of all tweets.
Social Media Producer or Dead Beat
In their post, The Common Hoster asks,
“If Twitter was only 100 people, which section would you be in?”
80/20 Rule Refined
This graph is close to the 80/20 rule or Pareto Principle. In most any organizations or communities the 80/20 rule tends to hold true: that 20% of an organization produces 80% of the work.
However, I’ve espoused that the 80/20 rule needs refinement. I’ve often found that in the 20% subset there is another 80/20 split. To which, 20% of that 20% (or 5% of the total population) actually carry 80% of that 20% subset’s load or production. This would be represented statistically much like the above graph.
Where do you or your social media producers fall on the scale?
