Virginia Tech students unveiled CHARLI, the nation’s first full-height, free-walking humanoid robot, yesterday.

CHARLI (Cognitive Humanoid Autonomous Robot with Learning Intelligence) was developed in the lab of Dennis Hong, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech, Director of RoMeLa, and Popular Science “Brilliant 10” honoree of 2009.
