“What physics taught me about marketing” – Dan Cobley

On the Law of Increasing Entropy

“With the kind of digital comment, creation and distribution tools available now to every consumer, its impossible to control where your brand goes.
“This distribution of brand energy gets your brand closer to people, more in with the people. It makes, this distribution of energy is a democratizing force, which is ultimately good for your brand. So the lesson from physics is that entropy will always increase; is the fundamental law.
“The lesson for marketing is, that your brand is more dispersed you can’t fight it embrace it and find a way to work with it.”

What’s the single most powerful positive word? TED Disussion

–Updated: February 16, 2:40pm PST

“What is the single most powerful positive word
in the English language?”

A lively discussion has lit up on LinkedIn on TED’s discussion group to answer that question.
The community responses are shown in the following tag cloud.

Single most powerful word: TED: Wordle

From Blog to Haiku to 6 Words to Single Word

Reductionism. This seems to be all too appealing for some in their online communication.

First, it was the blog, a shortened form of the news winnowed down to a journaled blurb. Then it was the 140 character tweet which restricted the 160 characters of its antecedent, the cellular text message.

Haiku tweets then added a pleasant literary intentionality to this narrowed universe with their 5-7-5 syllabic 3 line poems. It is same line of reductionism that fuels the popularity of the Six words blogs, stories and subsequent contests. Which only makes sense that this TED Group would (finally) query asking for a single word.

How would you answer?

What is the single most powerful positive word in the English language for you?
